Expansion Joint Filler
Dseal HD100 Board
A high-density, non-bituminous expansion joint filler board that fills and protects movement joints before sealing — compressible, high-recovery and ready to receive the joint sealant.
The foundation of a sound joint
Every expansion joint needs a compressible filler that fills the gap, accommodates movement and provides a firm base for the sealant. Dseal HD100 is a high-performance, cross-linked, pre-moulded closed-cell board engineered to do exactly that — holding its shape during the pour, then compressing and recovering as the structure moves.
Manufactured from closed-cell polymers such as polyethylene or ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA), HD100 is non-bituminous, non-staining and rot-proof. Formerly known as SIL flex / CAPCELL HD100, it is the modern replacement for traditional bitumen-impregnated fibre boards. Used with a backer rod and Dseal sealant, it completes a watertight, long-lasting expansion joint in floors, walls and decks.

Why HD100
Built for movement joints
- Exceptional compressibility & high recovery — typically greater than 90–95%, so the joint reopens after compression
- Negligible water absorption — less than 1%, so it will not swell, rot or break down in the joint
- Non-staining & bitumen-free — no oily bleed onto concrete or finishes
- Excellent chemical resistance — stands up to acids, alkalis and hydrocarbons
- Thermally stable — performs from −40°C to +70°C
- Easy to handle — lightweight, cuts cleanly and installs fast on floors, walls and decks

Where HD100 is used
HD100 suits any structure that needs a durable, low-absorption movement-joint filler:
- Structural & isolation joints in buildings and slabs
- Bridges — decks, abutments and pier hinge joints
- Concrete highways, airport runways & taxi tracks
- Parking decks & industrial flooring
- Water-retaining & water-excluding structures — canals, dams and storage tanks
- Back-up support for joint sealants
Standards & compliance
Dseal HD100 is engineered to meet the recognised standards for preformed closed-cell expansion joint fillers:
- IS 1838 (Part 3) — preformed fillers for expansion joints in concrete
- MORTH Clause 1015.3 — highways and bridges
- ASTM D3575 — flexible cellular olefin-polymer materials
- ASTM D7174-05 — preformed closed-cell polyolefin expansion joint fillers
FAQs
HD100, answered
What is HD100 made of?
HD100 is a cross-linked, closed-cell board made from polymers such as polyethylene or ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA). It is non-bituminous, so it will not stain concrete or bleed oil.
How is HD100 better than bitumen filler board?
HD100 offers far higher compression recovery (greater than 90% versus roughly 70–85% for bitumen board) and much lower water absorption (under 1% versus 15–50%), and it does not stain or degrade — giving a longer-lasting joint.
What thicknesses are available?
Standard thicknesses run from 5 mm to 100 mm in sheets of 1000 × 2000 mm and 1200 × 2400 mm, with custom sizes available on request.
Is HD100 waterproof?
Its closed-cell structure gives negligible water absorption (under 1%), making it highly water-resistant and ideal for water-retaining and below-grade joints.
