Dseal DuraEdge Seal

Mechanical floor expansion joint in pre-drilled aluminium with an interchangeable nitrile insert — for all floor finishes, joint gaps 20–60 mm and movement up to ±10 mm.

Dseal DuraEdge Seal (reference JDH 5.02) is a mechanical floor expansion joint for interior and exterior applications, built from pre-drilled aluminium side plates and an interchangeable flexible nitrile insert. It absorbs structural movement while presenting a clean, flush finish across the joint.

Suitable for every floor finish — ceramic and vitrified tiles, marble, natural stone, resin and flexible floors — DuraEdge Seal covers joint gaps from 20 mm to 60 mm in floor-to-floor and floor-to-wall configurations, and is available with stainless-steel or brass caps for a premium finish.

Installation Guide

  1. Clean and level both joint edges, removing all debris from the joint and anchor zone.
  2. Position the pre-drilled aluminium side plates along each edge, flush and level with the finished floor.
  3. Fix the side plates into the slab through the pre-drilled holes, working in 3 m sections.
  4. Press the interchangeable nitrile insert firmly into the side-plate channels along the full length.
  5. Hot-weld the insert at junctions and transitions; trim neatly and clean the finished joint.

Maintenance & Care

DuraEdge Seal needs very little maintenance. Clean the joint during routine floor cleaning with a neutral detergent diluted in water and rinse with clean water — avoid acidic (hydrochloric or hydrofluoric) cleaners, which attack aluminium.

Because the nitrile insert is interchangeable, a worn or damaged section can be lifted out and replaced without disturbing the fixed aluminium side plates, keeping the floor in service with minimal downtime.

FAQs

DuraEdge Seal — Frequently Asked Questions

What is Dseal DuraEdge Seal (JDH 5.02)?

DuraEdge Seal is a mechanical floor expansion joint made of pre-drilled aluminium side plates and an interchangeable flexible nitrile insert. It absorbs structural movement across floor joints while giving a clean, flush finish, and suits all floor finishes.

What joint gaps does DuraEdge Seal cover?

It is available for joint gaps (W) of 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 mm. The visible width is around 25–65 mm and the total width around 145–170 mm depending on the gap selected.

How much movement can DuraEdge Seal accommodate?

Movement capacity ranges from about ±3 mm on the 20 mm gap up to ±10 mm on the larger gaps, so the right size is selected for the expected structural movement at the joint.

What materials is DuraEdge Seal made from?

The side plates are extruded aluminium and the central insert is nitrile rubber. Stainless-steel and brass caps are available as an option for a luxury finish.

Which floor finishes can it be used with?

All types — ceramic and vitrified tiles, marble, natural stone, resin and flexible floors — for both interior and exterior floors.

Is the insert replaceable?

Yes. The nitrile insert is interchangeable, so a worn section can be replaced without removing the fixed aluminium side plates, which greatly reduces long-term maintenance and downtime.

What colours is the insert available in?

The nitrile insert comes in black or grey as standard, allowing the joint to blend with most floor finishes.

Can DuraEdge Seal be used for floor-to-wall joints?

Yes. It is supplied in floor-to-floor and floor-to-wall configurations, the latter with a visible or invisible side plate to suit the detail.

What is the standard length?

DuraEdge Seal is supplied in standard 3 m lengths, with hot-welding recommended at insert junctions for a continuous, watertight run.

How is DuraEdge Seal installed?

The pre-drilled side plates are fixed level into the slab through their holes, the nitrile insert is pressed into the channels, and the insert is hot-welded at junctions. See the Installation Guide above for the full step-by-step.

What traffic can it carry?

DuraEdge Seal is rated for pedestrian traffic. For vehicular floors, Dseal offers heavier mechanical joints such as ParkGuard and LoadMaster — contact our team for the right selection.

What is the JDH 5.02 reference?

JDH 5.02 is the Dseal product reference for this mechanical floor joint family, covering the 20–60 mm gap sizes and their height, width and movement options.

Does DuraEdge Seal meet any standards?

The aluminium profiles are manufactured to the ASTM 6063 specification, and Dseal's manufacturing is certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.

What maintenance does it need?

Very little — clean with a neutral detergent and water, avoid acidic cleaners that attack aluminium, and replace insert sections only if worn or damaged.
