Dseal Flip Joint is a heavy-duty architectural floor expansion joint engineered for a clean, flush finish across movement joints in high-quality floors. Twin grooved aluminium cover plates sit in nested aluminium profile frames anchored into the slab, presenting a bevelled, low-profile surface that transitions smoothly for foot and wheeled traffic.
At its heart are interlocking centre plates that pivot ("flip") as the joint opens and closes, transferring load across the gap while allowing thermal and structural movement. An internal elastomeric seal runs continuously beneath the centre as a water-stop, keeping the joint watertight and protecting the structure below.
The profile suits a nominal 50 mm joint width at 100 mm installation depth, fixed with flat-head hex screws (with an optional dowel-bar detail) for a secure, serviceable installation in concrete slabs.
Key Benefits
- Interlocking centre plates "flip" to carry load while accommodating movement
- Grooved aluminium cover with bevelled edges — flush, low-profile surface
- Internal elastomeric water-stop keeps the joint watertight
- Nested aluminium profile frames anchored securely into the slab
- Flat-head hex-screw fixing with an optional dowel-bar detail
- Clean architectural finish for high-quality floors
Applications
- Commercial and institutional floors (malls, airports, hospitals)
- Architectural floor joints requiring a flush, clean line
- High-traffic pedestrian concourses and circulation areas
- Watertight floor joints over occupied spaces below
- Concrete slab movement joints needing load transfer
Features & Construction
- Twin grooved aluminium cover plates with bevelled edges

Installation Guide
- Prepare and clean both slab edges of the joint, forming the recess to the correct 100 mm depth and 50 mm nominal gap.
- Set the nested aluminium profile frames along each edge, flush and level with the finished floor.
- Fix the frames into the slab with flat-head hex screws (and dowel bars where specified), checking alignment and level.
- Position the internal elastomeric seal (water-stop) continuously beneath the centre so the joint is watertight.
- Engage the interlocking centre plates and fit the grooved aluminium cover plates, confirming they transit flush for traffic.
- Inspect the full run for level, secure fixing and a continuous seal before handover.
Maintenance & Care
The Flip Joint is an aluminium system with a replaceable elastomeric seal, so upkeep is minimal. Keep the grooved cover and joint clear of grit and debris, and wash with clean water and a neutral detergent; avoid acidic cleaners on the aluminium.
Periodically check the cover-plate fixings and the interlocking centre for free movement, and inspect the internal seal; a worn seal length can be replaced without rebuilding the whole joint.
FAQs
Flip Joint — Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Dseal Flip Joint?
It is a heavy-duty architectural floor expansion joint with interlocking centre plates that pivot ("flip") as the joint moves, a grooved aluminium cover, and an internal elastomeric water-stop for a flush, watertight finish.
How does the "flip" action work?
Two interlocking centre plates pivot against each other as the joint opens and closes, transferring load across the gap while allowing thermal and structural movement.
Is the Flip Joint watertight?
Yes. A continuous internal elastomeric seal runs beneath the centre as a water-stop, keeping the joint watertight and protecting the space below.
What joint width and depth does it suit?
It suits a nominal 50 mm joint width at 100 mm installation depth; other sizes can be discussed for your project.
What is it made from?
Grooved aluminium cover plates and nested aluminium profile frames, an elastomeric water-stop seal, and flat-head hex-screw fixings, installed in a concrete slab.
Where is the Flip Joint used?
Architectural and commercial floors — malls, airports, hospitals and concourses — where a clean, flush, watertight movement joint is required.
Who manufactures the Dseal Flip Joint?
It is manufactured and supplied in India by Dseal Solutions Private Limited. Use the WhatsApp, Call or Email buttons on this page to request pricing, drawings and a project recommendation.
