Dseal DriveSafe SS Cover is an all-metal floor expansion joint engineered to withstand extremely heavy loads — load-handling equipment, fork-lift trucks and lorries. The comb-shaped top cover plate and central support plate are supplied in hardened steel or stainless steel (304/316) to suit the strength required and the working environment, and the special profile eliminates any ridge or vibration as vehicles pass over the joint.
It is suitable for heavy loads of up to 19 tonnes per axle and traffic from fork-lift trucks on solid tyres, HGVs, pallet trucks and other vehicles on pneumatic tyres. The standard joint has a section with a central flange for alignment; the STF60-L type uses a stainless-steel central support with a more limited gap width and movement range.
Available for joint gaps up to 250 mm with movement of +/-15 to +/-20 mm and load capacity from 60-140 kN in standard steel up to 600 kN in hardened steel, DriveSafe SS Cover suits all floor finishes (concrete, screed, tile). Correct mounting is essential — contact Dseal for the relevant technical instructions and lengths.

Installation Guide
- Prepare and clean both joint edges, forming the recess to suit the selected DS-PJ size and floor finish.
- Set the steel base sections along each edge, flush and level with the finished floor, maintaining the correct gap for the size.
- For the standard section, align on the central flange; for the STF60-L type, position the stainless-steel central support.
- Anchor the bases securely per the technical instructions for the traffic loading (this is critical for heavy-duty performance).
- Fit the comb-shaped top cover / support plates (hardened or stainless steel as specified) and confirm the surface is ridge-free and flush.
- Check the full run transits smoothly for fork-lift and HGV traffic before handover; contact Dseal for the relevant mounting instructions.
Maintenance & Care
DriveSafe SS Cover is a solid all-metal system built for the toughest floors and needs minimal upkeep. Clear grit and debris from the comb plates and joint regularly, and wash with water and a neutral detergent.
Inspect the cover, central support and anchors during routine floor checks — especially in braking and turning zones — and re-tighten any loose fixings so the joint stays level and ridge-free.
FAQs
DriveSafe SS Cover — Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Dseal DriveSafe SS Cover?
It is a heavy-duty, all-metal floor expansion joint with a comb-shaped steel or stainless-steel cover, engineered for the most demanding loads — fork-lifts, HGVs and pallet trucks — across joint gaps up to 250 mm.
How much load can it carry?
Load capacity is 60-140 kN in standard steel and up to 600 kN in hardened steel, suitable for up to 19 tonnes per axle (stated for a 200 x 200 mm pneumatic-tyre contact surface in the initial position).
What joint gaps and movement does it cover?
Four sizes cover gaps from 0 to 250 mm: DS-PJ 40 (0-40), DS-PJ 100 (40-100), DS-PJ 200 (100-200) and DS-PJ 250 (200-250), with movement of +/-15 to +/-20 mm.
Steel or stainless steel?
The comb-shaped top cover and central support can be supplied in hardened steel or stainless steel (304/316), chosen for the strength required and the working environment.
Why is the profile ridge-free?
The comb-shaped interleaving cover eliminates any ridge or vibration as vehicles pass over the joint, giving a smooth, low-vibration transit for wheeled traffic.
What is the STF60-L type?
It is a variant with a stainless-steel central support, offering a more limited gap width and movement range than the standard central-flange section.
Where is DriveSafe SS Cover used?
Industrial floors, factories and warehouses, logistics and distribution centres, stations, airports, shopping centres and car parks — anywhere with intensive heavy-duty traffic.
Who manufactures it?
