Dseal JointMaster is a heavy-duty recess-mounted aluminium floor joint cover with a free-floating centre plate that glides as the structure moves. Set into a recess so the cover finishes flush with the floor, it suits both interior and exterior joints and tolerates some vehicular access, making it a versatile choice for plazas, atriums, terminals and large commercial slabs.
JointMaster handles joint widths up to 100 mm with large horizontal movement of +95 mm / -40 mm, ±3 mm vertical movement and point loads up to 1000 kg. An AL-HDC model is available for trolley traffic, and fire, moisture and acoustic barrier accessories can be added to meet building-performance requirements.

Installation Guide
- Form or confirm the floor recess to the correct depth so the cover will finish flush with the finished floor level.
- Clean both joint edges and the recess, removing concrete laitance, grout and debris.
- Set the JointMaster frames into the recess along each edge, parallel and level.
- Mark, drill and anchor the frames into the slab, checking alignment across the full run.
- Fit any fire, moisture or acoustic barrier accessory into the joint before the cover where specified.
- Install the free-floating centre plate and confirm it self-centres and moves freely.
- Verify the cover finishes flush and clean the completed joint.
Maintenance & Care
JointMaster needs only routine care. Clean the aluminium cover with a neutral detergent diluted in water and rinse with clean water; avoid acidic (hydrochloric or hydrofluoric) cleaners that attack aluminium, and keep grit clear of the free-floating plate so it continues to move smoothly.
Inspect the centre plate, glide action and any fire, moisture or acoustic barrier accessory during routine checks. Because the cover is recess-mounted, a worn plate or barrier element can be replaced without disturbing the fixed frames, keeping interior or exterior floors in service with minimal downtime.
FAQs
JointMaster — Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Dseal JointMaster floor joint cover?
JointMaster is a heavy-duty recess-mounted aluminium floor expansion joint cover with a free-floating centre plate. It suits interior and exterior floors, takes joint widths up to 100 mm and tolerates some vehicular access.
What is a free-floating centre plate?
The free-floating centre plate is not rigidly fixed; it glides and self-centres as the structure expands, contracts or shifts. This lets JointMaster absorb large horizontal movement while keeping the floor surface flush.
What joint width does JointMaster cover?
JointMaster handles joint widths up to 100 mm. For wider openings, Dseal offers systems such as LevelJoint, which spans up to 375 mm — share your joint width with the team for the right match.
How much movement does JointMaster allow?
JointMaster accommodates horizontal movement of +95 mm / -40 mm and vertical movement of ±3 mm, making it suited to large-span and high-movement structural joints.
What load can JointMaster carry?
JointMaster is rated for point loads up to 1000 kg, supporting heavy-duty interior and exterior floors and areas with some vehicular access.
Is JointMaster suitable for trolley traffic?
Yes. The AL-HDC model of JointMaster is specifically designed for trolley traffic, which makes it well suited to airports, hospitals and shopping centres with constant cart movement.
Can JointMaster be used outdoors?
Yes. JointMaster is suitable for both interior and exterior floors, including podium and terrace decks where a flush, durable, recess-mounted cover is needed.
Does JointMaster offer fire and acoustic protection?
Yes. Fire, moisture and acoustic barrier accessories are available for JointMaster, allowing the joint to meet building fire-rating, waterproofing and sound-control requirements where specified.
Why is JointMaster recess-mounted?
Recess mounting sets the cover into the floor so it finishes flush with the surface, giving a clean appearance and a smooth transition for pedestrians, trolleys and light vehicles.
How is JointMaster installed?
A recess is formed to the correct depth, the frames are anchored level along each edge, any barrier accessory is fitted, and the free-floating centre plate is installed to finish flush. The Installation Guide above has the full sequence.
What is the difference between JointMaster and GalaxyJoint?
Both serve high-traffic floors. JointMaster is a recess-mounted, heavy-duty cover with a free-floating plate, 1000 kg load and large +95/-40 mm movement, while GalaxyJoint is a surface-mounted system for 50–125 mm gaps with a serrated microseal surface. The Dseal team can advise.
Are custom sizes and finishes available for JointMaster?
Yes. Dhawan Associates manufactures Dseal profiles in-house and can supply JointMaster matched to your joint width, recess depth and barrier requirements. Send drawings to the team for a tailored specification.
What maintenance does JointMaster require?
Clean the cover with a neutral detergent and water, avoid acidic cleaners, and keep grit clear of the free-floating plate. Inspect the plate and any barrier accessory periodically and replace worn sections without removing the frames.
Does JointMaster comply with any standards?
JointMaster aluminium profiles are manufactured in compliance with ASTM B221-02 and the ASTM 6063 specification. Dseal manufacturing is certified to ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018.
Who manufactures Dseal JointMaster?
JointMaster is designed and manufactured in India by Dhawan Associates, makers of the Dseal range of expansion joint systems and covers, with in-house design for custom requirements.
